aims and objectives
Coca Cola states that their vision is to craft the brands and choice of drinks that people love, to refresh them in body & spirit. And done in ways that create a more sustainable business and better shared future that makes a difference in people's lives, communities and our planet. Coca Cola are very good at creating a very well known brand and their aims are to become an even more well known brand which will create the community to see their drinks in shops they will be more motivated to buy their products
target audience
their main target audience is people aged beaten 10-35 however coke have added different variants to their drinks such as Diet Coke and Coke Zero to target a wider market of people who are aged 35+. they ave sponsored Santa which is perfect because everyone knows who Santa is so this means that they gain a very large brand awareness which will encourage ore people to purchase, especially the target age range of 10-35 who are more likely to look up to Santa.
slogan and key messages
the slogan for this advert is "give something back". Coca Cola are trying to ensure that customers associate their brand with Christmas to create a happy feeling for them. the advert itself shows this slogan after a lot of Coca Cola lorries drive into a town at Christmas, they aim to create an effect from this that is Christmas isn't Christmas without coca cola.
approach
Coke in a way haves celebrity endorsement by sponsoring Santa. They have put him on Coca Cola cans and also bottles, this way "Santa fans" which are mostly people under the age of 18 however everyone in the world knows who Santa is so hang him on their products will boost sales as they will see someone they know on the bottle, even if he's. fictional character
call to action
At the end of the advert there is a slogan saying "give something back this Christmas" which is strong message to the audience saying, help someone else this Christmas. also, underneath this slogan there I a message saying "please recycle" This message is very strong and it also it backs up the slogan, this advert already has a strong effect on the audience so having this message is very good for coke ethically and also its good for them to gain a stronger brand image
representation
There are a lot of Christmas stereotypes in this adverts such as the snow, the lights and the Christmas music, this helps the audience to understand that this a Christmas advert and that the Coca Cola vans symbolise the start of Christmas for the town in the advert.
campaign logistics
Coca Cola uses the fighting and bursting model meaning that the advert gets released seasonally and is only seen at certain point of the year. The advert gets released every year on Christmas.
the advert is usually shown later on in the day, around 9pm and after, so that the children aren't too exposed to the idea of such unhealthy drinks.
choice of media
the Coca Cola Christmas truck advert is always shown on TV as an advert between TV shows. The target market for this advert is everyone who celebrates Christmas in the world, the advert has very few words so it can be shown to everyone around the world. However the younger population gets more enjoyment from Santa so the main target audience are the younger population so the adverts might be placed in-between shows on channels such as Nickelodeon.
relevant legal, ethical issues and regulatory bodies
Coca Cola have used a fictional character that kids look up to and are advertising their product for people older than this demographic. according to the ASA and CAP surgery drinks have price added on top so that children are staying healthy. However Santa is usually targeted for the younger viewers so this might be an issue as a sugary drink should not be advertised to children.
in the advert Santa is drinking coke out of a glass bottle however Coca Cola is mostly sold in shops in cans and plastic bottles, this could possibly confuse the viewers.
