TV trailer
my TV trailer will be posted to the show's YouTube account as well as on BBC3. Two of the most common places where the target audience saw advertisements for their favourite drama series were YouTube and television, according to a survey conducted among them. This demonstrates that they are proven techniques for grabbing people's attention, making them useful for expanding the audience. Also, a viewership that might not have otherwise heard of the show is reached by airing the trailer on BBC channels. The trailer will be partied on TV channels at around 9PM because this is the most common time for my target audience to be watching TV.this data states that 99% of people have heard of YouTube and it is also liked by 77% of people, this suggests that YouTube is a very good platform to post my trailer on as it is widely used by the whole population, this will increase the potential viewership for my trailer, this will increase the views and also help the trailer to be talked about more, which is very good for promotion.Poster
The main place where people will come across between the lines' poster is at bus stops and on the side of busses as they are passing ng through busy places constantly all day. Also, it will be visible on billboards in crowded places such citys and town centres. By putting the posters in these places, it's increasing the likelihood that both the target audience and others will notice it, which boosts the show's publicity. The poster is to excite people's curiosity so they will want to learn more and watch the show, and it might spark conversation between those who see it.
an example of when the BBC used billboards and posters in busy areas, is Dracula, the unique shadow formation caused by the daggers in the posters sparked immense publicity, causing the poster to go viral which massively helped to increase the viewership or the show. the best thing about having billboards and posters like this up is that it can attracts any type of audience, including target audience, this is made easier by the simple designs so that members of the public don't even have to think about it much when looking at it, this massively helps with publicity.
Radio Advert
my radio advert will be played on radios at around 3-4pm as this is when my target audience of upper school students ages 15-21 will be coming home from school, so they may be listening ti the radio in the car on the way home or in their headphones.
one of the platforms that I will be using to promote the radio trailer is BBC sounds, this is a podcast platform which its used more by my large audience and I can use this to play the tailer. this is a good platform to use as the fame is 79% which is very high, nearly 4 in 5 people have heard of it. 44% of there people who know of BBC sounds are fans and use the platform very often, this means that a large amount of people will be using BBC sounds to listen to the radio,. this ma include my target audience or the parents/freinds of the target audience meaning that they can talk about the show to them.social media post
the 2 social media platforms that I have chosen to upload to are instagram and TikTok. instagrams main users are said to be teenagers and the main uses have been stated by instagram as being 18-24 year olds which suits my target audience very well. TikTok is also a platform widely used by my target audience and is one of the most used social media platforms for teenagers aged 15-21, the main users on titkok are currently 18-34 year olds meaning that my target audience are in they bracket. both these sites that are used by scrolling and having adverts in-between scrolling will increase viewership of my social media campaign.
this is an example of a trailer and I have taken influence from this as the trailer manages to use clips from the show without giving away what happens throughout the show. The trailer also helps to introduce the key characters in the show, for example it shows the protagonist of the show, Walter white, and I have taken influence from this by added all the shots of thy protagonist in the show which helps to introduce Luke to the audience, I have also used a very important clip in the show, of Luke walking on the train tracks but I have made sure that the audience don't know what has happened before this scene which adds suspense, encouraging them to watch the show. The breaking bad trailer uses a lot of clips from the first series which helps to introduce the storyline of the show without giving away what happens throughout the show, I have also done this by using clips of Luke in school before his drug addiction starts, ensuring that the audience know what the show is about but. without giving away any key information about what happens.
both my show and breaking bad help to ensure a successful advertising campaign as they both show enough from the show so that the audience know what it will be about which may spark any interest towards the show and this interest increases as the audience don't know about what happens in key moments throughout the show.

Radio Trailer
I gave a script to the actors and they practiced and rehearsed their lines before we went to to a quiet room to record the sound voice overs. I ensured that the room was silent, this is important as I wanted to ensure that the sounds didn't exceed the sound limit and I also didn't want to have background noise, I ensured there wasn't any by listening over the footage before uploading them onto editing software. I uploaded all my recordings onto a file called "unit 20 rushes" so that they where all in the same place which made it easier to upload to recordings onto my Mac, so that I was able to edit. Whilst editing I have made sure to edit the volume on the audio so that it does not exceed -6db, also cut the footage to more effective lengths which I then put in the right order for my trailer. I saved some versions which I got feedback on, the feedback then led me to change some features of the radio trailer such as adding backing music and to also add more voiceovers on some areas of the trailer, such as the segment art the end which his talking the audience where and when it will be released. I then recorded more sound effects and voice overs to add to my trailer, I added a voice over to he end of the trailer to show when the show will be released. I added some sound effects over key aspects of the trailer, for example I used the train sound effects at the end of the trailer to add effects to the trailer, which will leave the audience wondering what happens, encouraging them to watch the show.
I have recorded the sound effects that I gathered from elsewhere onto an asset log to ensure that there I am sourcing where I got them from, I have also uploaded my soundbites to FCPX. I have posted this trailer onto YouTube and I have added that BBC Player logo onto the screen to that there is something on the screen and also to show the audience where to watch the show.
I uploaded this trailer for the radio broadcast at 48kHz at bit depth of 16 which is the broadcasting standard for the UK. I uploaded this into YouTube as well with H264 video settings to create a mp4 video which is smaller and easier to embed.
TV Poster
The final export is at the resolution of 300 dpi as a png as this is the minimum for print, the size of the print as A4 and I also uploaded A3 and bigger to be placed of billboards or on the side of a bus. at A4 the pixels are 2480 x 3508 at 300dpi. I edited this using affinity design as this is industry standard making it suitable for editing on.
TV Trailer
I uploaded the final edit to the client using apple ProRes 422 with resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 1080p HD giving it a high quality filmic look. and so it fits broadcasting standards for the UK. I used 25fps as this is the European standard, the stereo was 48kHz and the volume does not exceed -6db as this is broadcasting standard. I chose these settings as they create a high quality QuickTime movie. I also uploaded a lower quality video to YouTube at H262 with the same relation, FPS and stereo, however this is 1 quarter of the size of the video sent to the client.
social media post
for both my I instagram posts, I uploaded the images in landscape and the pixels are around 1080 x 1350 at 72dpi for web resolution, I chose these aspect ratios as they are both images on the site and are a different shape to other posts which are usually square, this will make my posts stand out. I repurposed the image from the poster onto and instagram and used I also used a screenshot from the tailer for the other, I then used photoshop to add effect and change the aspect ratio.
for the tiktok post the video is uploaded in landscape and the pixels are around 1080 x 566 as this will fir the size and layout of the standard titkok format. I re purposed a short clip taken from my trailer and I removed the edits I had previously done on Final Cut Pro so that I was using the original audio and uploaded this to tiktok. This short video is uploaded at video codec of H262 AT 25fps and stereo of 48kHz, this creates a lower quality quick time movie which is more compatible with internet and social media platforms.
legal and ethical issues
to carry out these recording and to take these pictures I have gathered consent forms from the actors involved with recording to make sure I have there permission, I have also carried out a risk assessment for the actors to identify any hazards that make them at risk of injury and also to make sure nay equipment not get damaged. it is also very important that I gathered permission to film in my chosen locations, otherwise this may cause legal issues, so I emailed the land owners prior to recording. all this can be found in P3. I have created an asset table to show where I have gathered some footage that I haven't recorded from, this means that I can avoid any copyright issues, the footage I gathered was copyright and royalty free meaning that I could use them and I did not have to pay.
I recorded raw footage myself using a camera and a tripod to keep the camera still to avoid shaky footage, recorded the footage in real life school setting and also on train tracks to make the footage seem more real. whilst editing I ensured that the sound levels where below 48kHz which Is industry standard, sound effects and dialogue for the radio trailer where recorded in a silent room to avoid background noise to ensure the best quality, we did many practice takes before finally choosing the best quilt to use which I then uploaded and edited on Final Cut Pro. I handed my cast and crew the scripts for the trailer which include action blocks and dialogue to make sure they know what to do. During recording of the trailer I also took photos in the same location for the poster as it was the perfect setting and also the perfect lighting at the time, I used a tripod to ensure the camera was still.
representation
I deliberately chose these actors because the show is set in a school setting with characters who are in school, therefore having actors that are the same age as the actual characters will help with representing potential stereotypes and will help it to feel more real for the viewers looking for personal relationships. There is a lack of female representation throughout my advertising campaign which is a bad thing because the female audience might be steered away from watching as they might struggle to relate to the characters, however the theme of the show is mens mental health and by a lack of female representation this helps to properly highlight this to the audience. I also have a lack of cultural diversity in my campaign which is another negative as people from different ethnicities might also struggle to relate with the characters. Another way that the audience could potentially struggle to relate to characters is because there is a lack of sexual orientation, all the characters in the campaign
